About us and this site

Hi, I'm Arjan Zuur. I live in Zuidlaren in the Netherlands and travel through Eastern Europe by car with my two sons, aged 7 and 9. Our car is a Peugeot 308 diesel estate, well loaded, with the boys in the back. Long driving days, tolls, vignettes and fuel stops are part of the trip, and we keep an eye on the costs. A flat tyre is part of it too: in Slovenia we once fitted the space-saver spare in a farmyard and later had two new tyres put on at a garage.
I had these questions myself, so I gathered the answers per country. Oost-Europa Reizen is independent: we are not a tour operator and do not sell trips. More on About us.
Where the information comes from
Rules and prices, such as vignettes, tolls, traffic rules and wild camping, come from official sources like the ANWB, governments, national parks and tourist boards. The source is always shown, with a link. Distances are calculated with OpenStreetMap, and where something is an estimate, we say so. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons; see Photo credits.
Rules change. Check the source again just before you leave. Spotted something that is no longer right? Email [email protected] or use the contact page.
Affiliate links
Some links, for example to Booking.com and Viator, are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may receive a small fee at no extra cost to you. It does not decide what we write. More in the disclaimer.
